GOOD POINTS AND BAD POINTS OR DREAMHOST DEDICATED SERVER
If you never had a dedicated server before you might wonder what are the good points and bad points of a dedicated hosting, so here is what I've found until now.
What I've found to be positive with a Dreamhost PS:
- the real time graph that shows you the memory used by your server and the second graph that shows you the memory used since 1 month, as it makes it possible by just checking the graph to know if you have a lot of visitors (or bots...) on your websites.
- the possibility to adjust the memory and CPU allocation in your server administration, without having to send any email or ask anybody
- the always helpful and fast Dreamhost customer service
What I've found to be negative with a Dreamhost PS:
- access to websites seems to be slower than with the shared hosting, and even if I haven't tested enough yet, it seems that even when I allocate double memory than what I'm currently using the websites access is not faster
- the price, as it seems impossible for anybody to pay only $15 a month for the Dreamhost PS even when you don't have many visitors on your websites (as soon as you have few websites and pages you will have enough search engines bots to suck the 150MB that you get for $15/month)
-no warning email or any alarm telling you that the memory allocated is not enough and that your websites might not be available, meaning that you need to stay in front of the graph to see what happens on your server
